KIA Denmark saw an opportunity beyond launching a new electric van. The PV5 was generating significant interest among outdoor enthusiasts, DIY builders, and the growing van-life community, but there was no clear platform to inspire owners, demonstrate possibilities, or help build a community around the vehicle. The challenge was to transform the PV5 from being perceived as “just another electric van” into a platform for adventure, exploration, and customization—creating excitement long before customers even received their vehicles.
ogether with KIA Denmark, we developed the OPV5 Project (Overland PV5) as a real-world demonstration of what the platform could become. Rather than building a traditional marketing campaign, the project focused on designing, building, and documenting a complete overlanding conversion. Every modification—from suspension, wheels, and wrap design to the camper interior, rooftop equipment, power systems, and accessories—was carefully planned and shared as an open build journey. The project combined industrial design, rapid prototyping, AI-assisted visualization, content production, community engagement, and partnerships with aftermarket suppliers. Instead of simply talking about possibilities, we built them.
The OPV5 Project became a living concept vehicle that inspired future PV5 owners while demonstrating the flexibility of KIA’s new electric platform. Beyond generating high-quality content, the project established a framework for community engagement where owners could follow the build, discover products, learn from modifications, and eventually contribute their own ideas and builds. It positioned the PV5 not only as an electric commercial vehicle, but as a foundation for a new generation of adventure-focused electric campers.
