Aquario was born out of pure frustration. Across multiple projects, I kept needing simple QR codes for real-world use: posters, packaging, presentations, installations. What should have been trivial turned into friction every time: - hidden subscriptions for one-time use - paywalls appearing after the QR was already printed - unclear cancellation flows - locked dashboards for something that should be disposable The problem wasn’t technical — it was product design. The challenge was to strip the category down to what it should have been all along: fast, transparent, and frictionless.
I built Aquario as a direct response to these broken patterns. The principle was simple: no accounts, no lock-in, no surprises. The experience focuses on: - generating QR codes instantly - clear, transparent usage - no hidden pricing or forced subscriptions - a clean interface with zero unnecessary steps I deliberately removed everything that didn’t create value. The goal was not to add features — but to remove friction and restore trust in a simple utility.
Aquario demonstrates how small tools can become meaningful by being opinionated. It shows: - how removing friction can be more powerful than adding features - how trust and transparency can differentiate even the simplest products - how everyday frustrations can reveal overlooked opportunities The product serves as a reminder that good software doesn’t always need to be complex — it just needs to work, instantly and honestly.
